Bissell CrossWave Pet Pro Review: Would Owners Buy It Again?

How this review was made: We did not test this machine in person. This verdict is based on our analysis of hands-on expert tests and owner review themes, all listed at the end of this article. The best tests date from a few years after launch; we found little rigorous multi-year durability data. Our method.

Depends

Great for routine floor mopping, less so for big messes

Testers found the CrossWave Pet Pro cleans dust, pet hair and dried stains on hard floors well, usually in one or two passes, and owners with pets say it replaced daily sweeping and mopping. The catches are consistent: it weighs about 11.5 lb before water, it is corded, it is loud, and the dirty tank and filter take real effort to clean after sticky spills. Area rugs get only a surface clean. If your home is mostly hard floors and you mop often, owners are happy; if you mainly have carpet or hate post-clean maintenance, look elsewhere.

Buy it again if you…

  • have mostly sealed hard floors and pets
  • want to vacuum and mop in one pass for routine cleaning
  • deal with dried-on drips and muddy paw prints often

Skip it if you…

  • want a light or cordless machine
  • mostly have carpet or thick area rugs
  • dislike rinsing tanks, filters and brush rolls after use

The Bissell CrossWave Pet Pro is a corded multi-surface wet dry vacuum. It sprays cleaning solution, scrubs with a spinning brush roll and sucks dirty water into a separate tank, with a strainer to catch pet hair.

We combined hands-on expert tests with owner feedback and note where long-term evidence is limited.

What owners love

Clean, shiny hard floors.Galaxus's tester found dust and dirt gone after the second pass at most, with pet hair removed and tiles left shiny.
Handles dried-on stains.Vacuum Wars found it did well on wet messes and dried juice stains with a few passes and little residue.
Replaces sweeping and mopping.Owners with several pets, or with dogs and a baby, describe it as a real time-saver.
Comfortable controls.Testers liked the handle and easy-to-reach buttons and quick setup.

What owners complain about

Cleanup is tedious. After sticky or large spills, the dirty tank and filter need a thorough clean, which Vacuum Wars called time-consuming and Galaxus called a downer.
Heavy, loud and corded.Galaxus found it tiring to push, quite loud, and said the cable gets in the way.
Weak on rugs and edges.Reviewers doubt the rug mode goes beyond a surface clean, and owners say it does not reach close to baseboards.
Some early failures.A few owners report units that would not power on or broke within weeks; we could not tell how common this is.

How it holds up over time

We found no rigorous long-term durability test. Owner reports are mostly positive on function, with a minority describing early electrical failures. Regular rinsing of the tank, strainer and brush roll is the main thing owners say keeps it working and smelling fresh.

Tips from owners

  • Empty and rinse the dirty tank after every session so debris does not sit in water.
  • Run the rinse cycle in the tray, then remove the brush roll to air dry.
  • Use Bissell's formula at the stated ratio; one owner's sticky residue was linked to the wrong mix.
  • Pick up big spills separately; it is built for mopping, not flooding.

Pros and cons

Is it cordless?

No. It uses a 25 ft cord with no reel.

How much maintenance does it need?

Empty and rinse the dirty tank and strainer after use and run the rinse cycle. Sticky spills mean more cleanup.
