Breville Super Q Blender Review: Would Owners Buy It Again?

Disclosure: As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. If you buy through links on this page we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. How this review was made: We did not test this blender in person. This verdict is based on our analysis of expert reviews, all listed at the end of this article. Long-term reliability evidence is thin, and we say so below. Our method.

Depends

Excellent performance, but the premium only pays off if you blend a lot

Experts rate the Super Q very highly: Tom's Guide named it the best all-around blender it tested, praising smoothies, ice, soup and a relatively quiet motor for its class, and Homes and Gardens would not hesitate to recommend it. It also comes with a 10-year motor warranty, a to-go cup and five one-touch programs. But it is premium-priced, heavy, around 18 inches tall, and still loud, and lower-cost blenders like the Ninja handle everyday smoothies. It is worth it for heavy, regular use; casual users may be happy with less.

Buy it again if you…

  • blend most days and want smooth, consistent results
  • like presets and a personal to-go cup
  • want a long motor warranty and solid build

Skip it if you…

  • blend occasionally and want a lower-cost machine
  • have tight space under cabinets
  • are sensitive to blender noise

The Breville Super Q is the brand's top full-size blender. It has an 1,800-watt motor, a 68-ounce jug, 12 speeds, five one-touch programs (smoothie, green smoothie, frozen dessert, soup, and ice crush), a built-in cleaning program and a personal to-go cup.

Several expert reviews tested it, but we found little long-term owner data, so we flag where evidence is thin.

What experts love

Smooth results.Tom's Guide found smoothies very smooth, ice crushed to snow, and soup made from squash, potato and leek. It named the Super Q its best all-around pick and an Editor's Choice.
Handy programs. The green smoothie program fully pulverized spinach that the standard program left as specks in TechRadar's test, and the personal cup produced a smooth single serving.
Easy cleaning.A cleaning cycle and scraper cut residue, and TechRadar reports the accessories are dishwasher safe.
Well built.Tom's Guide describes a solid, stable build with a secure lid and a retracting cord.

What experts complain about

It is loud.Tom's Guide measured about 94 dBA at top speed with water, calling it the quietest of the models it tested. TechRadar measured around 85 dB for ice and smoothies, and Homes and Gardens measured around 92 dB. Measurement methods differ, but none call it quiet.
Big and heavy. At about 18 inches tall, it may not fit under wall cabinets, and the accessories are bulky to store.
Stiff lid.Reviewers found the lid hard to remove and potentially tough for people with less hand strength.
Small batches are awkward.TechRadar says it cannot blend small quantities in the main jug, and the brushed steel shows fingerprints.

Is the premium worth it?

The Super Q is premium-priced, and reviewers are clear it is a serious machine. Homes and Gardens preferred a Vitamix model for hot soup, but said the Breville is the better buy if you use the personal cup. It also called the Ninja Professional Plus much cheaper and surprisingly powerful, though flimsier. If you blend large batches or daily, the performance, presets and warranty justify the cost. If you blend a few times a week, a cheaper blender will likely do the job.

How it holds up over time

We found no rigorous long-term durability tests. The 10-year motor warranty is a good sign, but it covers the motor, not every part. One aggregator notes limited long-term reliability evidence.

Tips

  • Measure under your cabinets before you buy.
  • Use the personal cup for single servings.
  • Add liquid first, then solids, and use the tamper for thick mixes.
